Mumbai Blast 2011: Dead Faiz Usmani leaves behind clues?
According to reports, the arrests came after Faiz Usmani was interrogated by the police in connection with the blasts, though there is no official confirmation on this.
“There is all co-operation for the Mumbai Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) being extended by the city police. We are giving full support to the ATS," said BG Jyothi Prakash Mirji, police commissioner, Bangalore.
A report in the DNA said that police sources confirmed unofficially that the five were arrested after a team of officials from Mumbai ATS arrived in Bangalore on Jul 16.
The five were picked up after Faiz Usmani's mobile carried phone records of calls made to the arrested people.
The detainees have been kept in an "undisclosed location" in Bangalore and their names have been withheld by CRB and ISD.
“These men are not residents of Bangalore. They are from Hyderabad, Bhatkal, Kasargod and Mangalore," the official told DNA.
Fourty three others have been questioned in Karnataka by the ATS, CRB and ISD in connection with the blasts.
On Jul 17, the state police along with ATS officers visited Parappana Agrahara Central Jail in Bangalore to question some inmates. Unconfirmed reports claim that Usmani also contacted few inmates in the jail.
