Thalaivar Rajnikanth back in Chennai; hale and hearty


Chennai, Jul 14: The hero of the masses Tamil actor and superstar Rajnikanth has returned to Chennai amidst jubilation and festive fervour following his prolonged stay in Singapore after taking ill for kidney and other gastro-intenstinal problems.

After there was a festive atmosphere in Chennai following news of Rajinikath's arrival, the police and other officials had a hard time to control the crowd that had gathered to welcome their hero. There was also an incident of fans being lathicharged by police after Rajnikanth's car was stopped by the mob. The crowd that had gathered in the Chennai airport welcomed him with drums and trumpets. There were also huge vinyl posters placed in various parts of Chennai that had smiling Rajni cut-outs.

Rajnikath appeared healthy when he walked out of the airport with wife Latha and daughters Aishwarya and Soundarya. Also accompanying him was Tamil actress Manu who was believed to have provided him support and help during his stay in Singapore. [See pics of Rajnikath here]

He was discharged from the hospital in Singapore on June 15 and was recuperating there. He is expected to be back on the sets of the Tamil movie Rana in other two months. He had commenced shooting of the movie when he was taken ill.
