The students tonsured their heads in an effort to show the government their agitation and support for the formation of a separate state - Telangana.
“We will not stop there. We are also making arrangements to send out signatures with blood on a cloth to the UPA chairperson," said the students.
The indefinite hunger strike called by the students continued on its second day on Jul 12.
The students continued their agitation despite police issuing warnings that they did not take prior permission to start the fast.
The Telangana Rashtra Samithi president, K Chandrashekhar reportedly pleaded to the students to call off the strike after the government's indifference on the whole issue.
"The Telangana agitation is meant to establish a secure future for you (students). We have put ourselves through a lot of trauma. We have to evolve more definitive strategies to take forward our struggle, which will be uncompromising and relentless. Do not spoil your health. Please heed to my request and call off the fast," the TRS chief had said.
