2G irks BJP, will Manmohan Singh sack Chidambaram, Sibal?

New Delhi, Jul 10: The Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh was confronted with dire criticism over his inaction against former telecom minister A Raja and textile minister Dayanidhi Maran. Now, again situation began demanding a profound decision from the PM as this time his two powerful horses - Union Home Minister P Chidambaram and telecom minister, Kapil Sibal landed in the much-hyped controversy over 2G.

The main opposition party Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) asked the PM to sack Chidambaram and Sibal after their names were popped up in the whole second generation telecom spectrum scam controversy.

BJP spokesperson Syed Shahnawaz Hussain said, "Prime Minister has made a clean image for himself, but his Council of Ministers is corrupt. Prime Minister must clean his Cabinet, and as the leader of group of corrupt ministers he must show the door to those corrupt ministers."

Criticising Chidambaram and Raja, the BJP spokesperson said, "It is well known that the Rs 1.76 lakh crore scam (2G) had willingness of the then Finance Minister(Chidambaram). Raja is out of Cabinet, he was one part of it (allocation). Second part is Chidambram who is still a minister. Country would like Prime Minister to take a decision on him as well."

After Chidambaram, Sibal became Hussain's target of attack as he (Hussain) said, "A private company which was facing a penalty of Rs 650 crore at Rs 50 crore per zone was reduced by Sibal to Rs 5 crore per zone. Who gave Sibal the right to reduce Rs 50 crore per zone to Rs 5 crore?"

The 2G spectrum scam, which is coming up with severe revelations day by day, also brought late telecom minister Pramod Mahajan's (during NDA regime) name under its spell.
