Former union textile minister, Dayanidhi Maran also arrived at Karunanidhi's house. Saturday's meeting is the first meeting between Congress and DMK leaders after Maran had tabled his resignation facing tremendous pressure from the opposition parties and within UPA.
Maran submitted his resignation on Thursday after getting caught in the 2G spectrum net following the gathering of evidence by CBI establishing his involvement in the Aircel-Maxis deal.
The meeting is expected to finalise DMK's portfolio in UPA's new cabinet. However, sources also claimed that the DMK won't be pressing for replacements for Dayanidhi Maran or for former Telecom Minister A Raja which means the DMK is making its peace with holding just one cabinet berth now currently held by MK Alagiri.
