Cell phone jammers placed at JPC meeting room
A member of JPC said that this was done perhaps for the first time of a committee meeting and is expected to be in force during future meetings also.
Telephone jamming was resorted to in view of the fact that some news channels flashed some reports on the JPC meeting last time when it was in session.
An opposition member was said to have been instrumental in sending SMS to some T V reporters which created a controversy.
Along with jamming, authorities have also restricted the movement around the committee room to keep sniffing reporters at bay. They are not allowed to interact with members of the JPC during tea breaks.
During the last two meetings of the previous PAC, similar restrictions were put in place for media personnel.
