Facebook reaches 750 million users & counting

California, Jul 7: Now, it's official, Facebook has more than 750 million users around the globe! While announcing the launch of Video Chat service, Facebook founder and CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, said Facebook had reached 750 million mark.

"The metric of the last five years was about user growth," Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said. "The driving narrative of the next five years is not about wiring up the world, but what cool stuff (apps) can you build with this wiring in place."

Zuckerberg, the youngest billionaire in the world, revealed the growth rate of Facebook amidst latest negative reports about its growth rate. According to a report published by Inside Facebook, Facebook lost nearly 6 million users in United States and its growth rate went down from 20 million new users in Apr 2010 to mere 13.9 million new users in April 2011.

Meanwhile, Facebook added video calling facility to its platform, a move to check the flow of users from Facebook to Google+, the recently announced social networking site from Google.
