No Rail roko agitation in Telangana, 48-hr strike called off

Hyderabad, Jul 7: The Joint Action Committee (JAC) in Telangana called off its two-day Rail Roko (rail-block) agitation which was about to start from Friday, Jul 8.

JAC spokesperson on Thursday informed that the 48-hour protest, which was called by the JAC supported by TRS, has been cancelled for the time being.

After the entire hue and cry over the resignation by Telangana MPs and MLAs, the Telangana Rashtriya Samiti (TRS) have termed the block rail traffic, as 'rail roko'.

The mounting tension and agitation in Telangana over the sentiment for a separate state witnesses a complete bandh in these two days that paralysed the normal life.

The planned rail blockade might have hit over 200 trains which criss-cross Telangana every day. The local trains in twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad were also could to be affected. The South Central Railway headquarters was expected to make an announcement by the evening of Thursday about cancellations, diversions and other changes in the train schedules.
