Android dominates US smartphone market, BlackBerry slips
According to the latest market research report published by ComScore, Android bagged around 38.1 percent of the market share during the last three months. The Andoid running smartphones ranked a 5.1 percent growth rate during the period.
The iPhone maker Apple surpassed BlackBerry to the second spot with a 26.6 percent of the market share during the same period. Apple's shares increased with 1.4 percent growth rate.
The report also revealed that BlackBerry slipped to third spot in US with 24.7 percent share, which was down 4.2 percent. Another giant Microsoft also faced slip in its shares to 5.8 percent, down 2 percent.
The surging popularity of Android smartphones affected BlackBerry, which was the top selling smartphone in US during Oct 2010 with a market share of more than 33.5 percent. Later it slipped to 30.4 percent in Jan 2011 and continued its down trend.
