Decomposed body of teenage Dalit girl found in canal

Bijnore, Jul 6: The body of a 14-year-old Dalit girl, who was allegedly kidnapped on June 29, was found in a decomposed state in a canal, police said today (Jul 6).

Kavita was kidnapped on the way to nearby fields in Amman Nagar and was raped and murdered, they said. Her body was found two days ago with relatives identifying her from the clothes she was wearing on the day she went missing, they said.

Station Officer Navratna Gotam and Sub-Inspector N K Varma have been suspended by SP Mahesh Mishra following complaints of negligence in the case.

Mohit, the main accused, has been arrested while three others Mahinder Singh, Megha Singh and Varun are still absconding.
