Carlos Tevez states his wish to leave Manchester City

London, Jul 5: Carlos Tevez, captain of the Manchester City Football Club wants to leave the English Premier League side for personal reasons. This was informed by the Argentine himself in a statement to British media on Jul 04.

In the statement, the Argentine striker said, "It is with great regret that I have to inform Manchester City of my wish to leave the club. I would like to state that I have great respect for the club, its supporters and the owner Sheikh Mansoor, who has been nothing other than respectful to me."

He added, "I hope that the people understand the difficult circumstances I have been living under the past 12 months, in regards to my family."

The Argentine striker informed that it was difficult for him to live without his children in Manchester. In the statement, he said, "Living without my children in Manchester has been incredibly challenging for me. Everything I do, I do for my daughters Katie and Florencia. I need to be closer to them and to spend more time with them."

It can be recalled that he joined the club in 2009 from Manchester United. In December 2010, he said that he wanted to quit the football club but then withdrew his transfer request a few days later.

The 27-year old Argentine striker has three years left on his contract with City. He was the joint top scorer in the the recently concluded English Premier League season with 20 goals to his name.
