New Delhi, Jul 5: The main opposition party Bharatiya Janata Party continues its stern criticism on Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi over his visit in Bhatta Parsaul in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday, Jul 5.

BJP spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy, pointing Congress' inaction in several national problems, claimed that the party (Congress) along with Rahul Gandhi have so concentrated only on Uttar Pradesh as the state will soon hold its assembly poll in 2012.

Reminding police action on Baba Ramdev in New Delhi and how Congress maintained distance from the issue, Ruddy, without hiding his real intention, claimed that Congress is eyeing on the state poll and wants to widen its poll bank by gaining support from the aam-admi.

Earlier, former BJP President Rajnath Singh was quoted as saying, "It (Rahul Gandhi's Padyatra) is nothing more than a political drama and a political stunt."

"As far as the Land Acquisition (Amendment) Bill is concerned, the responsibility to have it passed is on the UPA government led by Congress, and he (Rahul Gandhi) is the general secretary of Congress," added Singh.

Despite Mayawati government's denial of permission for Rahul Gandhi to hold a rally in Bhatta village, Rahul has initiated his padayatra from Parsaul from Tuesday morning.

Rahul Gandhi had earlier highlighted the atrocities meted out by the Mayawati government to the farmers who were protesting the governments move on land acquisition. With the Mayawati government clearly in a corner over various allegations on slack governance and administration failure, the latest move from the Gandhi-scion is sure to irk the Maya administration. She had earlier refused permission to the Congress to carry out a 'Nyaya' march in Lucknow that was a peaceful protest to highlight the number of crimes in Uttar Pradesh.
