Jayalalithaa rejigs cabinet; shuffles portfolios
In a statement given out by the Tamil Nadu Governor Surjit Singh Barnala's office, the Law, Courts and Prisons, Personnel and Administration Reforms and Prevention of Corruption Minister E. Subaya has been dropped from the council of ministers. The portfolios Subaya handled will now be allotted to Information Minister G. Senthamizhan who is also additionally responsible as the Minister for Information, Law, Courts and Prisons.
P. Chendur Pandian, is the new face in the Cabinet who has been given charge as the Khadi and Village Industries minister. He is a legislator from Kadayanallur constituency. He is expected to be sworn in on Monday. Pandian will take over this ministry from B V. Ramana. Ramana will however continue as the Minister for Handloom and Textiles.
On the change of portfolios, Food Minister Agri S.S. Krishnamoorthy will now be handling commercial taxes and registration, while Tourism Minister Budhichandhiran will take charge of the Food Ministry. Commercial Taxes and Registration Minister S. Gokula Indira will now take responsibility of Tourism Ministry.
