Yashwanth Sinha turns heat on Chidamabaram's role in 2G scam
Speaking to reporters in Shimla, Sinha said, "As finance minister Chidambaram has been as deeply involved in 2G spectrum as A Raja and Kanimozhi and unless his role is also probed by the CBI in the manner it has been done in case of others, the enquiry would not reach its logical end."
Further detailing the role of Chidambaram, Sinha alleged that the the decision on the spectrum allocation was vested with the finance and telecommunications ministries in 2003, while in 2006 the decision taking was reserved to the Telecommunication Ministry. This move was made apparently after Chidambaram got into the helm of the Home Ministry.
Sinha further alleged that Chidambaram had allotted excess spectrum licenses to some parties. The fact that the Home Minister's name was mentioned in the Niira Radia tapes was also ignored with no further probe ordered in that regard. Sinha commented, "We will continue to press for a CBI probe against Chidambaram and ensure that all those guilty in the case were brought to book."
Yaswant Sinha also upped the tirade against the corruption in the UPA ministry and stated, "he is not only a lame duck prime minister but also presides over the most corrupt ministry the country ever had after independence". For the first time in the history of the country, a prime minister has no hold over the party and senior congress leaders are repeatedly referring to Rahul Gandhi as next prime minister even though the post is not vacant and it indicates that authority of Singh as PM has also eroded."
