Tamil Nadu: AIADMK to present 1st budget on July 4
Speaker D Jayakumar has convened the session of the state Assembly on August 4 for presentation of the budget, Assembly Secretary AMP Jamalaudeen said in a release on Sunday, Jul 3.
It's expected that Jayalalithaa government may announce some popular schemes apart from its election manifesto that promised the free mixies, grinders and fans to the ration card holders in the state from Sept 15. The government is also going to give free laptops for students.
But, soon after winning the April 13 assembly polls, Jayalalithaa had said the state had been pushed into a debt trap with a borrowing of Rs one lakh crore.
Moreover, she recently flew to Delhi to meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh seeking central assistance to various schemes, citing financial crisis faced by the state.
