Mumbai, Jun 29: After seizing the weapon used for the killing of Mumbai journo Jyotirmoy Dey, US-made .32 bore revolver and 20 Czechoslovakian-made cartridges from the slayers, now the Mumbai cops are investigating into how the sophisticated weapon was procured.

After 16 days of J Dey's brazen killing on Jun 11, the assailants were finally arrested. Those seven include 3 from Mumbai, one from Solapur and three from Rameshwaram in TN. Their names are: Rohee Thangapan Joseph alias Satish Kalia, Anil Waghmore, Arun Dhake, Sachin Gaikwad, Nilesh Shengle alias Babloo, Abhijeet Shinde and Mangesh Agawane.

During interrogation, the killers revealed that Rajan had instructed Kalya to travel to Kadgodam in Nainital to collect the firearm and ammunition for a contract killing.

“The fact that he asked Kalya to collect the weapon from Nainital indicates that the firearm could have been provided by the Babloo Shrivastava gang or Gulrej Khan alias Guddu, a close associate of Rajan," said a police officer, who is part of the investigation team.

The officer added, the information that Kalya was asked to collect the weapon from Nainital indicates that the firearm could have been provided by the Babloo Shrivastava gang or Gulrej Khan alias Guddu, a close associate of Rajan.

Kadgodam in Uttarakhand is close to the Nepal border and members of the Rajan and Babloo Shrivastava gangs are known to operate in that area. Babloo, who was once close to fugitive don Dawood Ibrahim, is now one of his staunch rivals.
