Sonebhadra, Jun 28: After a period of relative silence, the Congress verbal Canon that goes by the name of Digvijay Singh is back in business again. And this time, the target is, quite unsurprisingly the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh - Mayawati.

The Congress General Secretary alleged that the Mayawati-led Bhaujan Samaj Party government in Uttar Pradesh is 'neck-deep' in corruption and warned that all those who are responsible for it would be sent to jail if the Congress came to power in the state.

Singh said, "Mayawati government is neck deep in corruption. On coming to power, Congress would take an account from her and her associates in this connection and cases would be lodged against them and culprits would be sent to jail."

The Congress General Secretary who was here to participate in a programme, also added, "The real place for those who are corrupt is jail."

Alleging that there was corruption in the implementation of the MNREGA scheme in the state, he demanded the suspension of officials responsible for it by July 27 or else "the district magistrate's office would be gheraod".

Off late, the Uttar Pradesh government has been pushed to a corner over the increasing lawlessness in the state. Last week alone, more than eight case of sexual violence was highlighted by the media, but to the shock and suprise of all, no headway seems to have been achieved so far.

Mayawati on her part has so far failed to take any concrete steps to ensure a better law and order situation and has always preferred to play the Dalit card when such issues are raised by the Opposition parties or the media.
