Jyotirmoy Dey
Mumbai, Jun 28: Murdered Senior journalist Jyotirmoy Dey was known to his friends and relatives as a gutsy man with a very strong determination and his reputation received a further testimony, ironically from the man who killed him.

Rohit Thangappan Joseph alias Satish Kalya, one of the most dreaded sharpshooters in Mumbai's underworld, and the one who has been charged with the murder of Dey, was reportedly left numb by the stare of the victim. All this after he had ruthlessly emptied five bullets from his gun into the senior journalist's body.

Kalya, who was riding pillion, has reportedly said that he turned back after firing at Dey to check if the bullets had hit him.

In his statement to the police, the Rohit Thangappan Joseph alias Satish Kalya has said, “I hoped to see Dey on the ground. But he was sitting on his bike with feet firmly planted on the ground...He was wearing a helmet, but I could see his eyes. The way he looked at me, it sent shivers down my spine. Dey gave me a deathly look which left me numb for a moment."

He further added, “For a moment, I thought all the bullets had missed him."

Afraid that Dey might have survived the gun-shots, Kalya wanted to turn back and fire again. He said, “But when I gave a second look, Dey had collapsed to the ground," Kalya said. “Even though everything happened in a few seconds, the look in Dey"s eyes will haunt me forever."
