AIADMK now gunning for MK Stalin with petition in Madras HC
The AIADMK has now filed a petition in the Madras High Court challenging the victory of the former deputy chief minister M. K. Stalin. The petition was filed by the AIADMK candidate Saidai S. Duraisamy who stood against Stalin and lost by a narrow margin. Duraisamy has alleged that Stalin was declared the victor in spite of irregularities. The margin of the victory was 2423 votes with the counting being suspended for a while, leading to further delay in the declaration of results.
Duraisamy, a formidable contender to takeover Stalin in elections, was chosen by Jayalalithaa herself for his blot-free image as a philanthropist and educationist. They were contesting in the Kolathur constituency. Stalin had apparently ventured into new territory in Kolathur than compete in his traditional turf of the Thousand Lights seat.
With the new legal war that has emerged between the AIADMK and the young gun of the DMK, more fireworks are in the pipeline. Stalin is presently in Delhi along with DMK parliamentary party leader T. R. Baalu and MP AKS Vijayan where he met his half-sister Kanimozhi and former Telecom Minister A Raja who are housed in Tihar jail after being named accused in the 2G spectrum scam.
