Vatican City, Jun 27: Internet will get a leap of faith on June 29, when the Vatican will launch a news information portal that Pope Benedict XVI himself may put online with a papal click.

Officials of the Vatican, on Jun 25, were reported to have said that the Pope has been closely monitoring the development of the portal. Reports suggest that the portal will collect information from the numerous print, radio and television media that are already in operation in the Vatican.

The portal, which will go by the address - http://www.news.va -is expected to be a one-stop-shop for Holy See news.

The portal is scheduled to be launched on June 29 which also happens to be the 60th anniversary of Benedict's ordination as a priest. Reports cite Monsignor Claudio Maria Celli, who heads the Vatican office that developed the portal, as saying that Benedict may put the site online himself with a click from the Apostolic Palace.

Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, Pope Benedict XVI, was born at Marktl am Inn, Diocese of Passau (Germany) on April 16, 1927 and was baptized on the same day. Formerly known as Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, the professorial pianist was looking forward to retire when the very popular Pope John Paul II died in 2005. And ever since, according to him, he has remained a reluctant Pope.
