Vatican's Internet news portal to go live on June 29
Officials of the Vatican, on Jun 25, were reported to have said that the Pope has been closely monitoring the development of the portal. Reports suggest that the portal will collect information from the numerous print, radio and television media that are already in operation in the Vatican.
The portal, which will go by the address - http://www.news.va -is expected to be a one-stop-shop for Holy See news.
The portal is scheduled to be launched on June 29 which also happens to be the 60th anniversary of Benedict's ordination as a priest. Reports cite Monsignor Claudio Maria Celli, who heads the Vatican office that developed the portal, as saying that Benedict may put the site online himself with a click from the Apostolic Palace.
