2G: Karim Morani's bail plea deferred for Jul 5

New Delhi, Jun 27: The bail plea of 2G accused Karim Morani, the owner of Cineyug Films Pvt Ltd has been deferred by the Delhi High Court till Jul 5.

Ajit Bharihoke declared the decision taken by the court after authorities from GB Pant Hospital informed that the Cineyug Director's medical report was not ready.

The court had asked authorities in Tihar Jail to present new medical report on Morani's health.

Morani earlier did not appear for the court sessions and sought interim bail complaining of poor health. He was admitted on Jun 23 to GB Pant Hospital and discharged the very next day.

"According to Morani, he fell and sustained injuries to his head and hip. He has also been complaining of dizziness and unsteadiness," said his medical report. The medical also showed that Morani had no history of sudden breathlessness or chest pain.

Siddharth Luthra, Morani's defence Counsel said that 52-year-old Morani was suffering from several ailments and had to undergone angioplasty in the year 1991, 1993 and then in 1997. He also underwent a open heart surgery in the year 2007.

Karim Morani was arrested on the charges of accepting Rs 6 crore kickbacks for assisting the Rs 200 crore transaction from DB Realty to Kalaignar TV. His earlier anticipatory bail plea on medical grounds was rejected by the special court on May 23 and later on May 30.

Morani has been sent to judicial custody over the second generation telecom spectrum scam case.
