Security for Amarnath yatra reviewed

Jammu, Jun 24: Security arrangements for the annual Amarnath yatra beginning June 29 were reviewed today (Jun 24) in a high-level meet here chaired by Inspector General of Police, Jammu zone.

IGP Dilbagh Singh, while reviewing the arrangements emphasised on better and close coordination with other security agencies through joint control room to ensure smooth conduct of the yatra, an official said.

He advised police officers to ensure humane approach towards pilgrims and cautioned them to remain extra vigilant while dealing with criminals and anti-social elements.

The meeting was informed about the measures taken by the security forces to check and plug the infiltration from across the border. Anti-militancy operations launched by the police were also discussed in the meet, the official said.

IGP asked the officers to make sincere efforts to ensure basic amenities for pilgrims at various transit and lodging centres across Jammu city, he said.

IGP was apprised by the police officers about the overall security scenario in their districts and the steps being taken to further gear up the security arrangements.
