Young woman gang-raped, murdered in Orissa
The incident happened on Jun 21 and is said to have happened in front of the eyes of her husband and one-year-old son.
According to reports, the now-deceased woman Gambari Padhan (22) and her husband Bipra were returning home after selling honey in a market when two men stopped them near Nuakote village and demanded money.
A bitter war of words followed after the couple refused to pay heed to their demands. However, the culprits still managed to snatch Rs 500 from them and raped the young woman.
Reports inform that the husband's effort to save his wife failed as he was also physically assaulted and managed to escape with their son. The accused are then said to have dragged her body and dumped in a near-by field, some 200 metres from the crime scene, to conceal the matter.
The two accused have been identified as Babula Dehury and Chaitanya Mahalik. Bipra has lodged an FIR with Hindol police on Jun 22. There have been no arrests so far.
