Does West Bengal lack money to even feed its people?
The former Railway Minister later met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and reports suggest that additional funds for West Bengal topped the agenda there too.
The Times of India quoted, Didi as Mamata Banerjee is fondly called as saying, "We are not asking for funds for swimming pools and beautification, but for bread and butter."
During her during her visit to Delhi, she told the media, "We are passing through a disastrous situation. Our priority is to at least stabilize it and provide roti, kapda and makan (food, clothes and shelter)... We never asked for a special package. Whatever we deserve, we should get... so that we can provide basic necessities of bread and butter to the people."
She has also been reported as saying that the Trinamool Congress will retain the Railway ministry which has fallen vacant after her resignation.
