Mamata Banerjee
New Delhi, Jun 22: If Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal is to be believed then the state is so bankrupt that it even lacks money to feed its people. The newly elected chief minister of West Bengal has been reported as saying that she sought the bail out package from the Union Government to get bread and butter for the state.

The former Railway Minister later met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and reports suggest that additional funds for West Bengal topped the agenda there too.

The Times of India quoted, Didi as Mamata Banerjee is fondly called as saying, "We are not asking for funds for swimming pools and beautification, but for bread and butter."

During her during her visit to Delhi, she told the media, "We are passing through a disastrous situation. Our priority is to at least stabilize it and provide roti, kapda and makan (food, clothes and shelter)... We never asked for a special package. Whatever we deserve, we should get... so that we can provide basic necessities of bread and butter to the people."

She has also been reported as saying that the Trinamool Congress will retain the Railway ministry which has fallen vacant after her resignation.
