Home Min Chidambaram's chopper makes force landing in J&K
The Home Minister was making an aerial survey of Gurej and took off from Pahalgam for this exercise at 8:00 am. Twenty minutes post take-off, the pilot apparently felt something was not right and, in the intermittent time between 8:15 and 8:20 am, decided against continuing the survey and aborted plans to return. A technical snag is suspected with exact details of which is yet to be ascertained. The chopper was manned by a senior pilot from the Indian Air Force.
Many high profile administrative officials were along with Chidambaram in the copter. The chopper made the forced landing when it took off from Pahalgam. A backup aircraft has already put in place to fly back the Home Minister and other officials. The DG CRPF, DG BSF and other senior MHA officials are believed to be traveling with Chidambaram.
His arrival back to Delhi will be delayed due to this forced landing.
