Punjab govt releases Rs 45 cr for flood protection
Chandigarh, Jun 20: The Punjab government has released Rs 45 crore as part of its arrangements to meet any situation that may arise due to floods during the ensuing monsoon season.
Directions have been issued to authorities in the state to keep a strict vigil over the situation, Revenue, Rehabilitation and Disaster Management minister Ajit Singh Koha.
Vulnerable areas should be earmarked for works on the priority to save the life and property from floods, he said, adding that field staff will personally supervise these works. The Minister further said laxity would not be tolerated at any level.
