Another BSP Minister arrested in Mayawati's goonda raj

Lucknow, Jun 19: With more and more instances of Mayawati's Uttar Pradesh resembling a goonda raj, a senior BSP leader Intezar Ahmad Abidi was arrested for abetting to murder. He was arrested in connection with the murder of a state government employee, according to a senior police officer.

Uttar Pradesh is still reeling under the shocking news of the rape and eventual death of the minor near police station premises allegedly carried perpetrated by policemen. Probe is on in the matter. With lawlessness and anarchy prevailing, the recent incident is another shameful blot for the ruling government and the administration.

Abidi was arrested Saturday evening near the Wazirganj area. He is accused in the murder of an employee in the Social Welfare Department, Saifer Haider Naqvi alais Saifi. He was shot dead by unidentified persons near his house on Mar 2, an act believed to be carried out under the orders of Abidi.

Abidi was also charged for an arson attack at UPCC president Rita Bahuguna Joshi's residence in 2009. He was released on bail after he was arrested in this regard in Mar 2011. His name figured in the latest case of the murder of the govt employee following interrogations by the police of shooters who carried out the crime. The shooters were arrested on May 18.

Abdi apart from a popular BSP leader is also the Chairman of Ganna Sansthan, a title that gives him powers equivalent of a Minister of State. He was removed from the post after his arrest.
