Mumbai, Jun 17: The stranded MV Wisdom will not be towed away on Friday, Jun 17 (today) said media reports.

The rope laid for the MV Wisdom snapped because of high tide and so the huge cargo cannot be towed today.

MV Wisdom which is stranded on the juhu beach was a major attraction for people in Mumbai as the Indian Navy began its rescue operation for the ship to be moved away slowly.

The Merchant Vessel Wisdom, a massive cargo ship was on its way to Alang Shipyard, Gujarat from Colombo to be dismantled. The engine of the ship failed while it was on its way after which the cable used to tow-boat broke down. The ship started moving dangerously near the Bandra Worli sea link and then started floating at Juhu Beach on Saturday, Jun 17.

The company which owns the ship is in Singapore and the vessel weighs around 9,000 tons, says a report

Earlier equipment and steel cables were dropped through Naval helicopters on the ship so Smit Salvage Company, which has headquarters in Rotterdam could get to work. The cables would be attached so that the ship can be moved to Alang.

The presence of MV Wisdom has left environmentalists worried as they fear the efforts to save a 9,000 ton ship could lead to a serious damage to the ship's body causing it to sink. There is a possibility that toxic material from the ship wreck could release in the water, poisoning the waters in Juhu.

If the ship stays in the waters of Juhu, it could change the pattern of the sea wave but if they are efforts to break the ship the operation can turn out dangerous and expensive.
