Karnataka mulls housing facilities to industrial workers
The Karnataka State Industrial Investment Development Corportion will fund the project, under which a selected beneficiary will get Rs 50,000 subsidy, he told reporters after a meeting with Housing department and KSIIDC officials.
The government has been toying with the idea of alloting a site measuring 20 x 30 feet in urban areas and increase it to the size of 30 x 40 in case of availability of land to the beneficiaries.
During this year 1,000 houses each in Shimoga and Koppal would be built and the target was to construct at least 30,000 houses annually under the scheme, Somanna said.
Under Ashraya Housing scheme, 18,000 houses are being built this year, he said.
