Patna, Jun 16: Former MP and Congress leader Ranjit Ranjan has petitioned Prime Minister Manmohan Singh seeking a CBI probe into the Forbesganj firing in which four persons were killed in Araria district on June 3.

Stating that the alleged role of Deputy Chief Minister S K Modi should also be probed, she said she had urged Singh to ensure a CBI inquiry into the firing which should conclude within a stipulated time-frame of six months.
Ranjan said she also requested Prime Minister to ask Nitish Kumar government to immediately dismiss the district magistrate, superintendent of police of Araria, besides the deputy superintendent of police, the then sub-divisional officer and station house officer of Forbesganj before the completion of the CBI inquiry.
She said Chief Minister Nitish Kumar should personally visit the area and try to resolve the grievances of the locals for construction a road for them.
The Centre should also provide a compensation of Rs ten lakh to the bereaved families of each of those killed in the firing.
She said her party activists would hold a demonstration before the state assembly during the monsoon session next month to press for the demands. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has already ordered a judicial inquiry into the Forbesganj firing.
