Mayawati speaks out on Kheri rape and murder case

Lucknow, Jun 15: Mayawati, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh finally broke her silence on the Kheri Rape and Murder case. Speaking to reporters, the Uttar Pradesh CM, had nothing new to say, as she once again resorted to blame the Opposition parties and the Central government of playing dirty to defame her government.

She also, called on the Opposition to help in nailing the accused in the brutal rape ad murder saying, "Opposition parties should stop playing politics and help out in getting the real accused arrested."

In a brazen retort to the political frenzy over the incident, Mayawati, once again took on the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre and said, "Central government is not interested in getting justice for the victim, but playing politics instead."

Drawing a comparison between her government and the Mulayam Singh government, which was in power in Uttar Pradesh before Mayawati, she said, "If we compare with the tenure of the last government, crime graph in the state has reduced drastically."

In between she didn't forget to mention the national capital's abysmal record in protecting women and said that despite the high crime rate, there is seldom any media highlight or introspection into the cases.

It can be recalled that, a 14-year girl was found dead in the premises of the Lakhimpur Kheri police station.

The girl's family have accused the police for their daughter's murder. According to the victim's father, Intezam Ali, the station officer Ravi Srivastava and a constable were responsible for the rape of his daughter, following which 11 policemen were suspended on Saturday, Jun 11.
