Mumbai, Jun 15: Former home minister of Maharashtra and Senior BJP leader Gopinath Munde thrashed the State government on Wednesday, Jun 15 for following a slow and sluggish process of investigating the slain journalist J Dey's case.

Gopinath Munde also told that if the high ranked Mumbai ACP Anil Mahabole was somehow found to have links with the underworld gang of Dawood Ibrahim, he would be immediately sacked from his post. He also added that the Maharashtra government is not doing enough to solve the case.

"This is not the first time such a things has happened. The law and order situation in Maharashtra has become really bad. During my reign, I terminated at least 58 officers who were said to have links with the underworld. I request the state government to verify the character of the officers before hiring them. Don't know the facts but if Mahabole is connected to the underworld his services must be terminated immediately," Munde said.

He also added that he couldn't differentiate between the Congress and the NCP. The BJP party would look forward to raise this issue in the upcoming assembly session.

Anil Mahabole, the Mumbai ACP denied his alleged links with the underworld. He also affirmed that he shared a pleasant relation with the slain reporter.

On the other hand, the hue and cry over Mahabole's transfer now shows us the unseen. Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan said that the proposal to transfer ACP Anil Mahabole had not come to him for sanction. "As per rules, the proposal for his transfer should come to me. But, I have not received any proposal nor have I signed any papers to this effect," Chavan said.
