Speculations reached its top when Jayalalithaa met Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on the first day of her visit. Media reported that Sheila Dikshit conveyed a message from Congress president and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi to the AIADMK leader Jayalalithaa, who bagged the CM post after a landslide victory over DMK in the 2011 Assembly polls.
Sources close to Congress party said that Sonia Gandhi, who is out of Delhi, instructed Sheila Dikshit to stay close with Jayalalithaa for any further movements. Though the Delhi CM refused to comment about her meet with Tamil Nadu counterpart, it's believed that she carried on Congress' message for a possible alliance with AIADMK.
Jayalalithaa will meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Tuesday, Jun 14, to discuss issues concerning Tamil Nadu including power crisis and problems faced by Indian fishermen. The Sri Lankan Tamils issue is also expected to be on the agenda.
