Mumbai ACP to be interrogated on slain reporter's case

Mumbai, Jun 14: An Assistant Commissioner of Mumbai Police, Anil Mahabole, will be interrogated in connection with the murder case of Senior investigative reporter Jyotirmoy Dey.

According to the reports presented by few news agencies, Mr Mahabole had close links with underworld terror Dawood Ibrahim's gang. The ACP was earlier transferred from his position to the local arms division which was his second transfer in two years. He was shifted earlier with allegations of his links with Dawood.

According to police sources, around 20 men from the oil mafia gang were enquired in connection with Dey's murder case. Dey had with him a few documents photocopied at the courier shop that are suspected of being snatched away by the assailants.

Dey was killed on Saturday, Jun 11 by four unidentified bike-borne assailants. The police released a sketch of one of the assailants who opened fired at Dey, outside the mall. According to eye-witnesses, the murderer was around five-and-a-half-feet tall, wearing a blue rain coat.

The procession on Monday, Jun 14 led by the news agencies and journalists from various print and electronic media have imposed huge pressure on the Mumbai police to solve the case at faster pace.
