MiD DAY Journalist murder: Eyewitness' testimony
"I was in my car and was driving ahead of Dey when the firing took place. I saw the shootout in my rear view mirror. It was over in a few seconds, which, coupled with the heavy rain and the men's raincoats, prevented me from taking a good look at their faces," read the statement.
The key eye witness stated that he was driving his car slowly because of the rain. He said that Dey too was doing the same as it was raining.
He further said that he could hear the noise of the speeding motorcycles and before he could make out what was going on he heard gunshots and then found Dey was dead.
The bikers overtook the eye witness' car from left and right and fled. According to the witness, it all happened in a matter of few seconds and he thought of chasing the killers but Dey needed to be rushed to the hospital so he took him to the hospital.
He could not lift the journalist on his own so he asked for help from security guards from nearby residential complex.
Dey was rushed to Powai Hospital and then to Hiranandani Hospital.
