New Delhi, Jun 13: The Central Information Commission has held that the expenses incurred of the foreign trips by National Advisory Council Chairperson Sonia Gandhi should be made public.

Hissar-based RTI applicant Ramesh Verma seeked to know from the PMO about the costs incurred on the purpose of Sonia Gandhi's foreign visits.

The PMO received an application on Feb 26, 2010, that was later transferred to External Affairs Ministry on March 16, 2010 and was further forwarded to Parliamentary Affairs Ministry on March 26, 2010.

According to Verma, the Parliamentary Affairs ministry had informed that the central government had incurred no expenditure on the foreign visits of Sonia Gandhi during the last 10 years.

Hence, in order to direct out to provide the cost details he said,"However the Cabinet Secretariat has no knowledge if any information has been given to the applicant in respect of her foreign visits as Chairperson of the National Advisory Council".

Chief Information Commissioner Satyananda Mishra ensured that the information would be sent to concerned ministries only.
