In a press conference, civil society member Arvind Kejriwal in a tirade aimed directly at the Prime Minister said, “Prime Minister must come under the ambit of Lokpal Bill. He is supposed to have critical information. Tomorrow if a Madhu Koda would become PM then a PM could become a security threat to the country."
Lokpal Bill drafting committee member, Prasanth Bhushan also spoke saying that the government should work on the wishes of its people. He also stressed for the need to videograph the proceedings and discussions and stated, “If government has any doubt then they should conduct a referendum. Role of money power is very prominent in present day elections. People of the country have a right to know on what happens in the meeting, people have the right to know what arguments are being given to keep the Prime Minister out of the ambit of Lokpal."
Earlier in the day, Anna Hazare had shot off a letter to Sonia Gandhi accusing Congress Ministers of indulging in “character assassination" by calling him a face of the RSS. Hazare commented on this and said, “They (the government) making lot many allegations, including the so-called hidden support and political agenda designed by RSS and BJP, is a sheer humiliation of sentiments of the common Indians. They are trying to demoralise and confuse agitators fighting against corruption and this proves insensitivity of government."
