Srinagar, June 12: One year old case of teenager Tufail Mattoo, who was killed by cops in the valley last year is still awaiting for justice. Mattoo's family still looks up to the government for justice.

On June 11, 2010, Tufail, who was returning home from tuitions was hit by tear gas shell near Gani Memorial Stadium in old city that killed him on the spot. Though initially the police even refused to file an FIR, later on court's direction the case got registered.

Tufail's death led to widespread protests that led to a summer unrest in which more than 100 people were killed, yet the family haven't received any justice.

During the case was carried on in the court, the family received a huge shock when the police told the court that no cop deployed in the valley was armed with the kind of tear gas shells that is said to have killed Taufail.

"I was terribly shocked when I heard this. It has taken one long year and they have not completed inquiry. They should have revealed this long back, that very moment. This is what they are saying now after it has consumed 117 lives", said Mohammad Ashraf, Tufail's father.

According to S.M.Sahai, Inspector General of Police of Kashmir, tear gas wasn't the reason for Tufail's death. They are still investigating the matter to sort out the real culprit.
