CBI puts past behind; updates all-new terror list
The new list containing 143 names has some new entries like the one accused in the Purulia arms drop case Nielsen Niels Christian alias Kim Davy whose extradition case is waiting to be heard in the Denmark court.
Also featured is Ravi Shankaran, an accused in a naval war room leak.
The present list was reviewed and put up after the agency have had to face major embarrassment after a convict Feroz Rashid Khan who was in the 'fugitive' list handed over to Pakistan was found to be lodged in Mumbai's Arthur Road prison.
After careful verification, the CBI placed the 143 names against whom Red Corner Notices (RCN) are still pending.
A source within the agency revealed the CBI meticulously reviewed the wanted-person's list against whom Interpol notices have been issued. Following which communications were sent to the respective state police who was asked to give updates on their whereabouts and status. The latest list has been updated on the CBI website.
The CBI has an exhaustive list of 550 cases of wanted criminals against whom Red Corner Notices have been issued. While notices have been issued at the request of the state government, others have been issued by the agency itself that is probing the matter.
