Gaddafi encouraging rape, says Prosecutor
"Information that there was a policy to rape in Libya those who were against the government,"said Luis Moreno Ocampo adding that his office had information regarding the same.
Addressing a press conference in New York after informing the UN Security Council about Darfur that according to some eye witnesses, the Libyan government bought containers of Viagra like drugs "to enhance the possibility to rape."
"We are trying to see who was involved," added Moreno Ocampo.
The UN Security Council on Feb 26 voted unanimously to put forward the case of Libyan crisis to the International Criminal Court.
Moreno Ocampo, on May 16 asked judges to issue warrants against Gaddafi, Seif al-Islam, his son and Abdullah al-Sanoussi, Intelligence Chief on the charges of targeting innocent civilians who are against his rule.
Evidence against Gaddaffi are being evaluated by judges, who are to decide whether to strengthen the charges aginst him and bring out a international arrest warrants.
Moreno Ocampo further said that if a arrest warrant is brought out, the rape charges would be added to the case.
