Anna Hazare on May 5, initiated a movement for passing a stronger anti-corruption Lokpal bill in the Indian Parliament that rocked the entire nation. It awakened the public from all the nook and corner of the country.
He also protested against the atrocities against Baba Ramdev and his supporters.
The Congress has been calling Hazare "a mask of RSS and Sangh Parivar'' and insisted he was no way better than Ramdev. Profoundly hurt by such harsh comments, Anna reacted and denied all such links.
"In my entire life I have never had any relations with the RSS, BJP, Congress, Shiv Sena or any other political party. My fight is against corruption and I will continue to do so", Anna Hazare said. He added that the people across the nation "know that I have no political affiliations."
Activist Arvind Kejriwal said that Anna Hazare has a lot of "self-respect" and is deeply hurt by such a statemnet. Infact Hazare was wooed by many political parties, but he was strict enough to keep himself aloof from the corrupt politics.
An eminent lawyer Prashant Bhushan said,"He has fought against all kinds of governments in Maharashtra, including (those headed by the) BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) and the Congress. All of them have tried to woo him but he has stayed away from these mainstream corrupt political parties."
