After authorities managed to find incriminating illegalities within the Baba Ramdev camp, the Prime Minister's office has ordered a probe into the allegations against a close aide of Ramdev - Acharya Balkrishna.
After reports of land grab, fake passport and political ambitions of the Baba coming to the spotlight, the latest allegations unearthed by the Uttarakhand Intelligence Bureau confirmed that Balkrishna violated the Arms Act. A report of the State Police Chief is also probing into the fake passport allegation framed on Acharya Balkrishna.
The authorities are looking into the reasons on why Balkrishna needed arms. He apparently has two licenses that was fraudulently attained after influencing authorities in Haridwar. But the flip side remains that the fingers were pointed only after Baba Ramdev challenged the system and took to fasting against corruption.
Baba Ramdev is also accused of stamp duty evasion and allegedly owns the exchequer Rs 58 lakh according to the Haridwar SDM for a total of 16 orders. He had also ordered attachment proceedings for the same in Aug 2010.
He is also under the scanner for land grab accusations with local residents going into a signature campaign against him, with the Haridwar DM claiming that no land was allotted to Ramdev.
With various allegations surfacing on Baba Ramdev's camp, the real issue of corruption is only getting sidelined. Could this be a clear motive by the government to divert people's attention from the actual issue?
