New Delhi, Jun 7: Firebrand politician Uma Bharti has come back to the Bharatiya Janata Party after six years. Nitin Gadkari, the President of the BJP today (Jun 7), with Bharti in tow announced her return to the BJP fold.

The BJP President also informed that Bharti will handle BJP's campaign in Uttar Pradesh.

Bharti was expelled from the saffron party after being given a showcause notice by the BJP leadership for raising objections to L K Advani's praise of Muhammad Ali Jinnah. She had even slammed Advani for 'indiscipline' and had demanded his expulsion from the party.

A former chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, Uma Bharti had then gone ahead and formed her own political outfit Bhartiya Janshakti Party, which over a period of time failed to gather much support.

Speaking about Bharti's return to the fold, the BJP President said, "BJP welcomes return of Uma Bharti into the party. Umaji will focus on Uttar Pradesh BJP. She will focus on the party's campaign in Uttar Pradesh. She will handle the party campaign in Uttar Pradesh."

And added, "We will bring a strong BJP to fight against Mayawati's gunda rajya (rule) and Mulayam Singh's jungle rajya in Uttar Pradesh."

Bharti on her part said, "I want to forget the last 5 years I have spent out of BJP. We will work hard to take up from Ram Mandir to Ram rajya."
