However, Omar Abdullah, the chief minister of Jammu Kashmir has no doubt about who the better dancer is. And if he is to be believed then his father Farooq Abdullah, will win hands down when confronted with Sushsma Swaraj on a dance show.
The young Abdullah, on June 6 tweeted, "having now seen the videos I have no doubt at all that my dad is a better dancer than Sushma Swaraj. Glad dance now acceptable protest."
He was reacting to the impromptu gig Ms Swaraj broke in to during the day-long Satyagraha at Rajghat to protest against the police action against Baba Ramdev. It can be recollected that in a midnight swoop on Baba Ramdev's protest fast at the Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi, the Delhi police ended the agitation and in the manner brutally assaulted fellow protesters.
The Congress was quick to react to Swaraj's dance at the grave of Mahatma Gandhi, and its General Secretary Janardhan Dwivedi had said on Jun 6, "What kind of fast is this when the Leader of the Opposition is dancing along with her friends at Gandhi's Samadhi."
Manish Tewari, the Congress spokesman had said, "For simple reason at the samadhi of the Father of the Nation, if you are going to dance into jigs, what kind of sanctity of the place you are maintaining."
Irrespective of who the better dancer among Farooq Abdullah and Sushma Swaraj might be, it certainly was in good taste for the leader of the opposition in the parliament to dance at a place where the mortal remains of the Father of the Nation lies. Hopefully, the next time around better sense prevails.
