Ilyas Kashmiri dead; terror group HuJi confirms
Pakistani media reported that HuJi, in a fax, confirmed the news that Ilyas Kashmiri was killed at 11:15 am on Friday, Jun 3 by an US drone strike.
Kashmiri, an accused of 26/11 Mumbai attacks in 2008, was also believed as the mastermind behind the recent terror attacks in Karachi's naval base.
Kashmiri was one of the most-wanted terrorists listed by US' Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
Kashmiri, at one point was a member of the Pakistani military, serving as a commando in a Special Services Group that was once tasked with training Afghan mujahideen to fight the Soviets.
He was later reassigned to train Kashmiri fighters against the Indians, but broke from the Pakistani army and joined a terrorist group - called Harakat-ul Jihad-i-Islami, or HuJI that has been closely aligned with al-Qaeda.
Ironically Kashmiri, who one planned to kill the CEO of Lockheed Martin in frustration over drone attacks along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border, has been killed by US drone.
