Baba Ramdev begins fast against corruption

New Delhi, Jun 4: Baba Ramdev began his hunger strike at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi at sharp 7am on Saturday, June 4. "We won't give up till our demands are met," he consecrated at Ramlila Maidan.

According to official estimates from the Baba camp, close to 30,000 people had gathered to express their support to the crusade against corruption. At his witty best, he welcomed the gathering and explained the various provisions provided for by the committee for the benefit of the thousands who have gathered there showing solidarity by fasting along with him.

Refuting all charges that were slammed against him in his satirical best he conveyed that the money spent on the event was collected by legal means and he also replied on allegations that he bought a Scottish Island. On this he commented, “The Island has been donated to us by an NRI couple and that too with white money."

He also justified the large amounts he spent on the event and said that it was money wisely spent for the larger good. With people coming in from Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Kerala, Goa, Haryana etc.., Baba Ramdev have also got a strong support base from NRI's. NRI groups from 17 US states have offered their support for Baba's cause.

The Baba in his usual fiery and stinging rhetoric added that the government was trying to crush his movement and denied any personal political agenda.

He also claimed in his discourse that there was a conspiracy in the making against him and said that he will reveal the details of it later to the thousands who have thronged the venue.

After no breakthrough was made following the four hour marathon meeting between UPA Ministers and Baba Ramdev at the Claridges hotel, the stage is set for the fast against corruption.
