Jaya wants Maran to go;Karunanidhi attacks 'corrupted' TN CM
Just after a day when Jayalalithaa stormed the nation demanding resignation from DMK leader and former telecom minister, Dayanidhi Maran (currently Union Textile Minister) over 2G spectrum scam, Karunanidhi reminded all about corruption allegations against the Tamil Nadu CM.
The DMK supremo on Thursday, Jun 2 claimed, "Jayalalithaa has no locus stand to demand for Maran's resignation" as several "corruption cases" have already been filed against the AIADMK chief.
Earlier, Jayalalithaa said, "I am quite sure the Prime Minister would know what has to be done and I am sure he would do it. The Prime Minister should ask for Maran's resignation from the cabinet. I am sure the PM will do it, if he has not already done it."
Jayalalithaa along with BJP raised voice against Maran when Tehelka Magazine in its report claimed that he (Maran) favoured telecom licenses to certain telecom companies and denied licenses to certain others. The report also states that the forced delay led to telecom company Aircel striking a deal with Maxis that has invested heavily in Sun TV, that is owned by the Maran family.
However, rejecting all allegations against him, the textile minister asserted that he would prove all accusations "wrong".
Meanwhile, sources informed that CBI soon may file FIR against Maran as well-known lawyer Prashanth Bhushan lodged an affidavit demanding a proper CBI inquiry against the union textile minister.
