Maha govt to declare ex-gratia for Jaitapur inhabitants

Mumbai, Jun 2: Prithviraj Chavan, Chief Minister, Maharashtra said that the government would soon declare the ex-gratia payment for those whose land were obtained for the Jaitapur nuclear plant.

“The compensation has been declared under the Land Acquisition Act. We will give an ex-gratia payment. The government will be taking a decision on it," said Chavan.

Narayan Rane, State Industries Minister earlier said that the amount for the land was fixed at Rs 46, 000. He further said that the government was contemplating on an ex-gratia worth Rs 10 lakh, for an acre adding that it wouldn't be possible for the government to surpass the amount.
