Mayawati addressees BSP workers' convention in Chandigarh
"The convention will start at 12 p.m tomorrow and party workers and leaders from northern states, including Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir will participate," said Anwar-ul-Haq, BSP leader from the city.
He claimed that the party was expecting participation of over 2.5 lakh workers in the convention.
BSP General Secretary Narendar Kashyap said that the convention would not be open to the media.
Meanwhile, Chandigarh Police has made tight security arrangements in view of Mayawati's visit with over 1,200 cops being deployed at the event's venue and at the hotel where the Chief Minister is staying, said officials.
Vehicular traffic will also be diverted on some routes in the city tomorrow in view of the function, they said.
