Facebook is looking for an alliance with the European company Spotify to develop a widget or a tab on user's profile page, letting him to integrate videos and music into profile page. The feature will display 'most played videos' or 'most listened songs' and offers a method for friends to listen to or share.
Citing "two people involved in the discussions," New York Times reported that Facebook, which has more than 650 million active users, wants to do the same with news and videos.
Media analysts opinionated that Facebook is trying to become a common hub for all type of entertainment. Moreover, during a presentation at G8 technology conference in France, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg revealed his plans to socialize the entertainment industry.
"Listening to music is something that people do with their friends," Zuckerberg said. “Music, TV, news, books - those types of things I think people just naturally do with their friends. I hope we can play a part in enabling those new companies to get built, and companies that are out there producing this great content to become more social."
With the new sharing feature, Facebook wants to be more close with its users, allowing them to share every content with friends. That means, Facebook don't want you to leave the platform for searching news or TV programmes. Indirectly we can say, Just stay connected for their ad revenue!
